The Menopause Research Movement
Born from my own experience of being misdiagnosed, misprescribed, and dismissed, SisterFire is a movement for education, research, and medical reform — created to ignite awareness and demand real understanding of women’s hormones and health.
After years of pain, confusion, and silence, I discovered my hormone therapy had been prescribed incorrectly by multiple practitioners — a mistake that profoundly impacts millions of women’s hormonal health and quality of life.
SisterFire calls for mandatory physician education and a proactive model of care that treats menopause before the cascade of diseases that too often follow untreated hormone decline.
Melissa’s Story
What began in silence became a fire.
This is the story that started SisterFire.
Over the course of 1.5 years plunging into pain and darkness, I saw one naturopath and four doctors. Before that, I had been gaslit by my family doctor for four years and mismanaged by a specialist for a frozen shoulder — both failing to recognise the hormonal crisis unfolding. I went from vibrant to dormant — riddled with anxiety and sinking into a deep depression I could no longer explain away as stress or ageing.
I could no longer hold my life together. I was standing on the precipice of losing everything — my business, my home, and the sense of self I had always known

I’ve created golden yoni pendants — symbols of hope, strength, and transformation. Each one represents our collective voice for change.

Barcelona
TANZANITE, SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND PENDANT
The Barcelona Pendant took inspiration from a beautifully ornate oval-shaped balcony that stopped me in my tracks as I meandered through the streets of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona.
Carved concrete so delicate in shape, reaching off the building in a convex shape with a delicate hand-forged railing of twirling vines and blossoms. I could not resist the desire to turn this into wearable art!

SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND PENDANT
During a trip to Barcelona, I was inspired by a flower blossom detail on the top of an iron-wrought fence that enclosed a romantic balcony that overlooked the cobblestone street of the Gothic quarter.
Gabriella begins in hand engraved leaves that wrap around petals exploding into dancing stamens. Beginning in a blue ombré on the petals then transitioning to orchid, magenta, indigo and pink.

The shape of the Arabic Earrings were inspired by my travels to Barcelona and the architecture I discovered while meandering the streets of the Gothic Quarter. Every day, while exploring with my camera, I would often discover open doorways that would lead into the most elaborate hallways. I couldn't resist taking a step in to capture the beauty.

Inspired by the meticulously carved wooden doors in Barcelona that I discovered while wandering down the city streets, completely unaware of my whereabouts. Guided by the beauty and the diminishing light of day.
Tendrils twirl around a sprinkling of violet to indigo-coloured sapphires with sweet kisses of rose-cut diamonds for a little more sparkle.
