Lab Grown Diamonds

Cirrus Cloud Pendant or Charm with a Lab Grown Diamond

What Are Lab-Grown Diamonds?

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds created in a lab using technology that mimics how diamonds form in the Earth. They have the same chemical makeup and brilliance as natural diamonds but are a more ethical and environmentally friendly option.

HPHT vs. CVD: Two Ways to Grow a Diamond

There are two main ways to grow lab diamonds: HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) and CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition). HPHT mimics natural conditions by applying intense heat and pressure to a carbon source, forming a diamond around a seed. CVD, on the other hand, uses a carbon-rich gas in a heated vacuum chamber to build the diamond layer by layer on a seed.

The Differences Between the Two

HPHT diamonds may show slight metallic inclusions or warmer tones, while CVD diamonds often appear clearer and can be more precisely engineered. Both methods produce high-quality, durable diamonds suitable for fine jewellery.

Why Choose Lab-Grown?

Lab-grown diamonds offer the same beauty as mined stones, often at a lower cost and with a lighter environmental footprint. Every Melissa Caron design may be created with a lab-grown diamond. Current pieces featuring lab diamonds include the North Star Pendant, Fae Reverie Pendant, and Cumulus Pendant. Chloe, Adelaide and Aranyani are dreamy engagement rings. The Everyday Studs are the perfect staple that pairs beautifully with every piece of jewellery.
